Royal Family Royal Caribbean

Royal Caribbean International has launched its search for their very own ‘Royal Family’ with the chance to win a host of money-can’t-buy prizes. One lucky family will be one of the first to experience the Ripcord by iFly skydiving and the North Star viewing pod with 360-degree views on the new ship Quantum of the Seas as well as attending a number of high profile events leading up to the launch.

The award winning cruise line is looking for an incredible family who have never cruised before to become the ‘Royal Family’ and official Royal Caribbean International ambassadors for 2014. The lucky winners will enjoy a host of amazing experiences throughout 2014 including a 7-night holiday in the Caribbean on board Oasis of the Seas in February 2014, an invitation to the launch of the newest ship Quantum of the Seas in the autumn of 2014 and a family day on board Independence of the Seas in summer 2014.

Sally Gunnell
As part of the launch I had the chance to interview Olympic gold medal winner and Royal Caribbean ambassador, Sally Gunnell;

1. Who would make an ideal ‘Royal Family’?

I think the family needs to enjoy having fun. They need to be active and willing to participate and get involved in all the activities on offer. A family with a variety of age groups would be a bonus.

2. In your experience, what would the ‘Royal Family’ be experiencing on their cruise?

Well for a start there’s the swimming pools and the H2O Zone for younger children. In the afternoon you might have a family game of pitch and putt. You might have a workout in the gym befor heading inside to watch one of the latest films in the cinema. In the evening you’ll enjoy a delicious meal before taking in one of the fantastic stage shows.

3. What are your personal top three things to do when you’re cruising?

The spa, gym and running track.
Watching the kids having fun.
Enjoying a show in the evening with the whole family, even the boys love it which surprised me.

4. They have a running track on the top deck, have you ever asked them to put some hurdles out for you? :)

Haha no, but I should!

5. Most amusing Royal Caribbean experience?

On my first cruise I was lying at the pool and they started playing all the tunes from Mamma Mia, it was pretty surreal – I did find myself singing along.

6. Finally, what’s your favourite place to visit when you’re in Edinburgh?

Definitely the zoo, I haven’t seen the pandas yet but maybe I’ll get a chance in the future.

To be in with a chance to win, families simply need to visit www.facebook.com/royalcaribbeanuk and post, in no more than 150 words, why they believe they should become the Royal Caribbean International ‘Royal Family’ along with a picture of their family. As an added incentive, Royal Caribbean is offering the first 20 families to enter the competition via facebook the chance to attend an exclusive preview of DreamWorks latest 3D film Turbo on Sunday 13 October 2013 in London.

Entry to the competition will close on 13 October 2013 with three finalists and their families invited onboard Independence of the Seas in Southampton for the day to film their experiences. The finalist will then be selected by votes from Royal Caribbean international’s UK Facebook fans combined with a panel of experts including Olympian and mother of three, Sally Gunnell and mum bloggers including The Mum Blog, Café Bebe, Are We Nearly There Yet Mummy?, Little Mummy and Sticky Fingers.
